Gov. Umahi hands over king David Medical University to Catholic Church

King David Umahi University of Medical science was handed over to the conference of catholic bishops of Nigeria 


Governor David Umahi in his remarks during the ordination and installation of the third Catholic bishop of Abakaliki, handed over the King David Umahi University of Medical science Uburu to the conference of catholic bishops of Nigeria to manage.

The university had been approved by the National universities commission and is due for take-off by September 2021.

Other state schools handed over to the Roman Catholic church to manage include :
  1.  King David Gifted children academy 
  2.  State vocational college 
  3.  Girls Technical college, Agba
  4.  Government Technical College, Abakaliki
  5.  Ehugbo Technical school in Afikpo North Local Government Area.

Also to be administered by the catholic diocese of Abakaliki are two other educational institutions, The king David University primary school and Uburu special science school, situated at Uburu, Governor Umahi's home community.

Governor David Umahi said the handing over of the administration of the schools to the catholic church was informed by the fact that the catholic church had been outstanding in their management of the education sector. He expressed trust that the Roman Catholic church would actualize his dreams and aspirations concerning the schools.
