NYSC online registration and things needed for NYSC camp

National Youth Service Corps [NYSC] is a one-year programme mandatory for both foreign and locally trained graduates who intend to work in Nigeria federal or state government establishments.


Requirements for NYSC online registration

- Check your name on the approved senate list

- Check your name on the Jamb mobilization list

- Jamb Registration number

- Matriculation Number

- Biodata

- Place of Birth

- Marital Status; married female prospective corps members will also require a marriage certificate, newspaper change of name, their husband identity card and utility bill.

- Passport

- Name of two next of kin, their phone number and address

- Name of schools attended from primary school till date

- Shoe size, trouser and shirt size

- Processing fee[ payable online or in the bank]


How to check your name on the NYSC Senate List

To check your name on the Senate List, please follow the steps below

- Click NYSC Portal

- Select your Tertiary Institution

- Type in your Matriculation Number on the space provided

- Then fill in your Date of Birth

- Click the Search Button – it will load and display your details if available

▪ Note: The senate list for NYSC is usually uploaded some weeks before the orientation camp. Prospective corps members should visit the NYSC portal at intervals to know when the list is uploaded.

    

 Your name is not on the NYSC Senate List, What should you do?

If your details are not on the NYSC Senate List,  then follow the steps below.

1. First, check  your name on the Jamb matriculation list for NYSC mobilization

2. Confirm if you have done your mobilization in the institution you attended – if you’ve done your mobilization, proceed to the next step, if not, go back to your institution for mobilization.

3. Confirm if your name is on Error List by checking your institution’s  Student affairs unit.

4. Correct the error and check back on the NYSC Senate List.

 

How to do NYSC online Registration

The steps for registration are stated below.

- Go to www.portal.nysc.org.ng

- Check for your name on the NYSC Jamb mobilization list

- Input your JAMB Registration Number and Matriculation Number

- Fill your Bio Data

- Upload your passport (white Background)

- Capture your thumbprint

- Fill in all required information.

- Make payment for your NYSC call-up number/letter.

- Submit

- Print out your green card

▪ Note: NYSC online registration usually commences about two weeks before NYSC orientation camp.


Compulsory things needed for NYSC orientation  camp

 The required things include

1. NYSC call up letter

2. NYSC green card

3. Statements of result or degree certificate

4. School Identity card

5. Passport

6. Medical certificate of fitness from a Government-owned hospital. This includes police and military hospitals

7. Medical Doctors, Pharmacists, Physiotherapists and Optometrists are to produce evidence of Registration with their Professional Bodies.

8. Medical Doctors are also expected to show evidence of current practising license

9. Foreign-trained graduates are to report to the camp with their travelling Passport for identification as well as their Transcript for verification. 

▪ Note: all medical fitness/medical reports meant for submission to NYSC must be affixed with Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) stamp.

▪ Note: failure to provide any of the above-listed items/documents will make you not eligible for admission into the NYSC orientation camp.

 

HOW TO PRINT YOUR NYSC CALL-UP LETTER

You’re advised to follow the steps outlined below to print your call-up letter on the NYSC official website after you have successfully done your NYSC online registration.

Go to the NYSC website portal by visiting http://portal.nysc.org.ng.

Locate the Login tab.

Login to your dashboard with your registered email and password.

Click on the ‘Print Call Up Letter’ link to access and print your call-up letter


What to do if you lost your  NYSC call up letter

In the event of any loss of call-up letter, the corps member who collected the call-up letter from his/her Institution is advised to obtain Police Report and thereafter report to the Institution of graduation for further action while prospective corps members who printed their call-up Letters online can re-print their call-up Letters.


Other personal items/things you might need for the NYSC orientation camp exercise

Please find below other things you might need to make your NYSC camp period hitch-free 

- Functional Account Number and Bank Verification Number (BVN) to facilitate online payment of entitlements.

- Cash and ATM card 

- A pair of white tennis shoes

- Bed items such as bed sheets, pillowcases, blankets etc.

- Dish set

- Flashlight/rechargeable lamps

- Hand sanitisers

- Power bank for your phone and devices

- Provisions

- Rubber slippers

- Toiletries

- Towels

- Treated mosquito nets

- Waist pouch/bag

- White shots, white round neck T-shirts and white stocks

- Antimalaria tablet and paracetamol. Also, take enough medical supplies along if you are on any daily medicine/drug.

▪ NOTE: The above list is not exhaustive please endeavour to bring along all personal items needed for reasonable comfort in camp.


List of items prohibited in NYSC orientation camp

- Electrical appliances

- Pets

- Gun

- Knife

- Hard drugs

▪ NOTE: Any other item not mentioned above that has the potential to cause harm and destruction of camp facilities will be confiscated.

 

NYSC redeployment/relocation requirements

Corps members can apply for relocation/redeployment under the following conditions 


Medical reasons for NYSC redeployment/relocation

This only applies to medical conditions requiring regular medical checkups and social support from family members or relatives.

The prospective corps members will need to provide a medical report from a Government-owned hospital.


Security reasons for NYSC redeployment/relocation

Some states are presently on safe for NYSC one year service. These States include 

Yobe, Borno, Adamawa, Kaduna, Zamfara and Plateau. Corps members posted to these states can apply for relocation/redeployment on insecurity grounds.

Please these states are not constant but dynamic depending on the security situation in the country.


Marital reasons for NYSC redeployment/relocation

This is only applicable for married female Corps members. The female Corps members should upload the following documents during the NYSC online registration and also take the hard copies to the NYSC orientation camps.

- Marriage certificate

- Evidence of change of name published in one national newspaper

- A formal Letter from your husband stating clearly his state of residence

- Husbands utility bill

- Husbands  Work Identity card

 

How to apply for relocation/redeployment during the NYSC service year.

This can be done offline or online during the NYSC orientation camp exercise. 

After the NYSC orientation camp, the application can only be done online.


Offline application for NYSC relocation/redeployment 

Please follow the steps below

1. Collect and fill the application form from the designated NYSC officials in the camp

2. State your reason(s) for the application and attach a copy of the relevant documents.

3. Attend the screening exercise for redeployment/relocation. This usually takes place in the second week in camp.


Online application NYSC relocation/redeployment 

Aside from the offline application corps members can also apply online via the following steps

1. Visit the NYSC portal

2. Sign in with your email and password. [ The same one you used during the online registration ]

3. Click on relocation

4. Fill the required fields

5. Wait for notification either by SMS or Email.

If your application is approved you will also be notified via SMS or Email

 

If your application is approved, you will need to do the following

Visit the NYSC portal

Login again

Select manage relocation

make payment

print your evidence of payment or receipt

print redeployment/relocation letter and proceed to your new state of deployment.
